Presenting Skill
Presenting Skill is a straight forward Leadership Skill. One’s ability to present well and engage an audience, is widely considered as a determinant of the potential to motivate and influence people.
Presenting Skills, in its significance as compared to yester years, has grown tremendously among working people and professionals. It wouldn’t be wrong to conclude the skill, as incredibly crucial in clinching projects and business deals. Presenting skills has gained so much prominence globally, permeating every work culture, as a competency expected among every associate within business organizations. Presenting Skills mastery also adds to an individual’s overall Branding and visibility in a working environment.
How does Insite approach Presenting Skills Training and Coaching?
We agree vehemently that the skill is best picked up through practice rather than indulging an overload of theoretical concepts. However, we also emphasize, and propagate the importance of learning from ‘observation’. Observing and imbibing practices of proven and skilled presenters in their act, which is called ‘Modelling’. Modelling many inspiring, proven and world-class speakers is one of the effective approaches to picking up the overall skill quickly, not forgetting the variety of media and technology available, to amply assist, the modelling approach.
Insite splits Presenting Skills Training in two phases:
Impact & Structure
Impact: Covers the Self Management aspects of Presenting Skills – the 3Vs of Presenting.
The 3 Vs stand for:
- Visual
- Vocal &
- Verbal
This part covers Body Language guidelines, the Vocal and Tonal modulation, and Verbal aspects, for learners to familiarize all parameters and carry themselves impact-fully and enthusiastically while presenting. The idea is that learners do not succumb to the pitfall of being too conscious about the 3 Vs, but to rather gain awareness, and be ever ready to receive feedback, from selected observers, to understand where and how to improve.
Structure:
This is not an aspect focused in detail in a regular Presenting Skills Workshop elsewhere. This is where Insite makes a huge difference. Presentation Structure contributes to 60% Presentation success. Structure makes such a difference, that even an average presenter can deliver highly impactful presentations, if the presentation content is structured well.
Mind Maps:
We amply equip our learners with free-flow writing techniques, to brain storm and flesh out facts and flavour, relevant to the presentation content. Mind Maps, or Tony Buzan’s tool, is highly recommended to brainstorm presentation content before freezing and sequencing it.
Learners are introduced and trained on applying Mind Maps to serve well for planning future presentations effectively. This part focuses on segregating overall content into Introduction, Body and Conclusion, and insights for further dividing the content into sections and identification of key points per section. Such designing renders delivering presentations extremely powerful, coupled with easy time keeping and focused message delivery, owing to creatively infused transitions between sections.
The overall benefits if being a good presenter, handling nerves, making PPTs and handling Q/A sessions are covered extensively.
Learners gain adequate opportunity to exhibit their learning via mock presentations, followed by feedback from both co-participants in the workshop as well as the facilitator.
The duration suggested for the workshop is usually two working days, provided making sure the no of learners specifically for this workshop are kept at bare minimal (Max 10 Participants), as they can benefit optimally via individual attention rendered by facilitator.
The effects and aftermath of our Presenting Skills workshop is certainly worthwhile placing your chances with, in developing the skill among your team.
